In 1979 Jeffa Gill started making Durrus in her kitchen, and it wasn't long before the awards came rolling in. Durrus is an Irish version of Tomme de Savoie but with one major difference…it's better! Made in the humid west of Ireland this cheese takes on a full, bacony, sea salt flavor and the wonderful aroma of the Irish shore. It stands out even among the best Irish farmhouse cheeses since it's still made with unpasteurized Friesian cow’s milk. Durrus is a fully vegetarian-friendly cheese since it's made with vegetable rennet.
